On behalf of the SUU Pacific Islander Student Association, we would like to extend our invitation to our annual showcase titled: ‘Tribute to The Island.’

“Tribute to The Island” from a Polynesian perspective is a celebration that honors the rich cultural heritage, traditions, and values of the Pacific Islands. It serves as a reminder of the deep connection between the people and the land, acknowledging the ancestors who have lived and thrived in harmony with nature for generations.

In this tribute, cultural respect is paramount. It involves paying homage to the wisdom and knowledge passed down through oral traditions, dances, music, and art forms. It’s about recognizing the significance of the land as not just a physical space but a sacred entity that sustains life and carries the stories of the past.

Through performances, storytelling, and displays of traditional crafts, “Tribute to The Island” showcases the resilience, creativity, and beauty of Polynesian cultures. It creates a sense of community and belonging while also promoting understanding and appreciation of the diversity within the Pacific Islander community.

Overall, “Tribute to The Island” is a heartfelt expression of gratitude and reverence for the ancestors, the land, and the cultural heritage that continues to shape the identity of Pacific Islanders today. It serves as a reminder to honor and preserve these traditions for future generations.
