Urban Fusion is a blend of street dance, modern, and contemporary dance techniques. Class begins with a basic warm-up incorporating funk, street, breakin, and house elements, while also incorporating modern/ contemporary exercises to stretch and tone the body within a communal environment where we are meant to see and move with each other. Class can then transition into across the floor, session, c(y)ipher and/or center combination which will ask the dancer to find ways of communicating and moving with one another. These exercises will follow structures that have been created in many dancing communities and depending on your dancing history, my hope is that you will recognize these interconnections while also honoring the nuances that make these techniques unique to themselves.
