The Utah Historical Society presents Barbara Jones Brown, who will speak about the Mountain Meadows Massacre, which took place on September 11, 1857, in southwest Utah.

Almost immediately after the atrocity, both non-Mormons and Latter-day Saints not involved began speculating about the motive behind it. A close examination of events that took place after the massacre debunks prior, speculative motives and provides a new interpretation. Brown, whose presentation will be livestreamed in Library Room #002 (lower level of the Sherratt Library), is the co-author of Vengeance is Mine: The Mountain Meadows Massacre and Its Aftermath (2023).

SUU's Dr. Richard Saunders will deliver opening remarks as well as lead a questions & answers session following the presentation.
